Antimicrobials (antibiotics ) are essential tools for veterinarians to ensure the maintenance of health and welfare in companion animals, livestock, wildlife and other animals. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is as serious in animal welfare as it is in human welfare.

More antibiotics are used in animal welfare than human health. 66% of all antibiotics are used on farm animals, not humans. This overuse of antibiotics in animals contributes to resistance in humans. (AMR).

In 2022, more than 100,000 metric tons of antibiotics were used in meat production globally. [ Ineos Oxford Institute for antimicrobial research ].

The M.A.S.S. Partnership intends to develop a new bioactive honey ( WOUND VIPER ) for treating animal wounds and ailments, reducing dependence on the currently failing antibiotics, and helping in the fight against AMR.
